How Does a Recliner Chair Work?

Learn how to rock out in your new recliner in several easy ways with this helpful guide to using your recliner chair. Maximum relaxation is at your beck and call.
Reclining
Whether you just purchased your very first recliner or have used them since your first birthday, there is always something new to learn. Start with the basics.
Sit not stand
The very first thing you want to do with your reclining chair is sit in it. Standing on it is not proper or conducive to its purposes. After all, this chair was designed for sitting and reclining. Jumping on it is not recommended unless your dog enjoys a leap into your lap. Sit comfortably in your recliner chair, and prepare for the next step.
Reach and pull
After you find your cozy niche, the next thing you want to do is reach along the side, and feel for the pull lever. Usually this is a longer wooden handle of varying shape and size that corresponds to the decor of your recliner. Once you have a firm grip on the lever, pull up. This action causes your recliner to fall back into "recline" mode. Prepare your body to get a jolt as sometimes these levers have a quick reflex. Tip: it is helpful to have your shoes off at this point unless you prefer to kick them off once suspended.
Recline and relax
Now that you have reached your reclining position, the last thing for you to do is relax and enjoy it. Have your favorite book, remote and coffee drink handy, and let your recliner do the rest!
